LOVE FROM LUKE DOG RESCUE AND SANCTUARY WEEKLY NEWSLETTERS

Interning in the summer with Love from Luke, I was able to not only receive hands on activity with the dogs, but I wrote about them in a weekly newsletter as well. With a subscription list of about 100, I would update our donors and supporters on the progression of the dog that is being rehabilitated, as well as the dogs that were providing therapy treatment for others. This served as a window for the many people who followed our social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn and provided them with a transparency of where their support was going.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER HARBOR HOUSE SELF-CARE DAY

Harbor House works to prevent and eliminate domestic abuse in Central Florida by providing critical life-saving services to survivors. In my Non-Profit Leadership class, my group and I collaborated with this organization in order to host a Self-Care day for the women and children to focus on loving themselves. We hosted a harvest-themed event and provided food, nail painting, games, face painting, and affirmation workshops.

FLORIDA BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION EDUCATION ADVOCACY AT THE FLORIDA STATE CAPITOL

As an intern with Florida Breast Cancer Foundation for the past year and a half, I am constantly looking for new ways to get my foot in the door with the organization. This past weekend I had the privilege to travel to the State Capitol for two fulls days of education advocacy with our state legislators and senators. Through this experience I now see the level of determination that goes into advocating for a non-profit organization. Not only that, but I have a new gained sense of what politics in action looks like and what it means to stand up for the people of your community.
