What have you done that defines you?

Welcome to my portfolio. My name is Sophia Castellucci and I am a recent graduate from the University of Central Florida, but there is much more that defines me than this. Having a passion for a multitude of things, Interdisciplinary Studies was the perfect fit for my multi-layered interests. Since changing my major to focus in Health and Education with a minor in Non-Profit Management, I have since interned with two non-profit organizations as well as traveled abroad to low income countries to educate and assist in medical work. Interning for a summer with a dog rescue and sanctuary Love from Luke gave me the skills I now have to apply for grants as well as write weekly newsletters. My internship with Florida Breast Cancer Foundation that I have now been active in for a year and a half has taught me a multitude of things like event organizing, sales, and has given me a great amount of experience in working with those, especially women, affected by a disease like cancer. This amazing opportunity has guided my passion for focusing in women’s health education after graduation, preferably on a global aspect.  Ever since I was 16 and traveled to serve on a mission trip in Costa Rica, I realized my need to serve people in another part of the world. Not only do I feel I gain a better sense of purpose when I am immersed in diversity, but I also gain a better sense of self. One can tell my passion for cultural differences by observing my current and past jobs. My love for people is extensive, whether it be serving on a medical mission trip in a mobile clinic in Peru or at a restaurant table here in Orlando, in an Asian or Spanish infused environment.

I look forward to all of the people, places, and things I will encounter in the future endeavors I immerse myself in post-graduation, hopefully with the Peace Corps. My goal is to go and serve directly out of college in a South American country for two years. This is a goal of mine because I feel it would give me the cultural immersion I have been longing for, as well as give me the incredible experience to someday create my own nonprofit. I dream to one day start or work closely with a non-profit focusing in women's health across the world, and I hope my time in the Peace Corps would then give me the tools to do so.

This is where you can find all of the experiences in my four years of undergrad that have defined me and continue to define me. Feel free to explore my work and contact me directly to learn more.
