MED LIFE MEDICAL MISSION TRIP
As a member of MED LIFE UCF, a service club for student's interested in the health field, I was able to attend a trip that fully emphasized what I dream to do with my college degree this past March. Through setting up medical mobile clinics in the impoverished areas of Cusco, Peru, I had the opportunity to assist local physician’s in treating patients by working in triage, teaching in health education, assisting in dental extractions, and working alongside doctors by taking vitals and prescribing medication. Not only did we treat local patients, but were able to help clean out and repaint many of their homes, which served to promote an all around healthier lifestyle. This experience opened my eyes to the lack of health care some people experience on a daily basis and the level of poverty that people face globally.
CHAARG SMALL GROUP COORDINATOR
For the past three semesters of my time at the University of Central Florida, I have been a small group leader in an all-girls workout club called CHAARG. As an advocate of health, being able to connect with young women to promote a better lifestyle through exercise and eating well is so gratifying. As a small group leader, my position is to lead a workout for an hour with a group of 5-10 girls once a week. Responsibilities include following a theme for that week's meeting and formulating an exercise, sending out weekly emails and reminders of our weekly events, and finding availabilities for workout areas. This role has provided me with a great amount of leadership growth and has taught me the importance of time management skills.

SHADOWING AT ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL
Last summer, I had the opportunity to shadow a Physician Assistant as well as a Physician in the Emergency Department of St. Joseph's Hospital. While public Health is my passion, I was interested in seeing the hands on work that goes on in an environment that requires fast paced treatment in life threatening circumstances. Shadowing these health professionals for a week allowed me to observe the level of knowledge and expertise I long to have one day in the health field.
